Harry Potter World by Beginners

I want to preface this post by saying that I am, in no way, an expert of Harry Potter World (The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, in Universal Orlando). This was my first time visiting! I do, however, have a lot of pictures to share, and Rivet and I think we figured out the optimal schedule for a 2 day visit. You definitely need a Park-to-Park pass to be able to it right— you can’t take the Hogwarts Express between the parks without one!

Day 1

  • Get an early start and head to Universal Studios Florida.

  • Go straight to the ride: “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts” (this line gets really long so it’s a good idea to head here first thing in the morning!)

  • Wait in line at Olivander’s to watch a lucky kid be chosen by their wand! (This was my favorite part of the whole park!)

  • Explore Diagon Alley! Drink Butter Beer! Exchange money at Gringotts! Have lunch at The Three Broomsticks!

  • Explore the rest of Universal Studios and go on as many rides as you can. My favorites were “Revenge of the Mummy” and “E.T. Adventure.”

  • In the evening, grab some wizard candy from Honeydukes and take the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 3/4 over to Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure.

  • Head straight to Hogwarts to go on “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” (the lines die back down in the evening, so this is a good time to go on this one!) It was our favorite ride.

  • Stay until dark to see the light show projected on Hogwarts.

Day 2:

  • Start your morning in Islands of Adventure.

  • On the way back to Hogwarts, go on “Skull Island: Reign of Kong” (this line gets long but it’s a good ride!)

  • If you want to go on “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” again, now’s the time before it gets to busy!

  • Explore the rest of Islands of Adventure, go on the water rides (“Jurassic Park River Adventure” was fun!) (Can you tell we don’t care about superheroes? lol)

  • Explore Hogsmeade, drink more Butter Beer, be merry!

  • In the evening, head to Hogsmeade Station to take the Hogwarts Express back to Platform 9 3/4, to see Diagon Alley lit up at night. Watch kids turn on the lanterns with their wands!

I hope this helps you plan a magical visit!
