Hotel Review: Mai House Patong Hill (Phuket, Thailand)

I recently visited Phuket for a friend's wedding. It was great timing; I left just hours after submitting my Master's thesis, so I treated myself and celebrated!

Although I have travelled quite a bit, I've never really travelled by myself. In Phuket, I knew a lot of other people in town who were attending the wedding, but I decided to check myself into a nice hotel, all on my own, for a little spaliday. And let me tell you… it was magical.

Mai House Patong Hill is located about 10 minutes from the center of Patong, and as the name suggests, up a hill. Patong is the tourist/party central of Phuket, but Mai House is a perfect distance away from the hustle and bustle and loud night life of Patong, while being close enough to spend your days getting lost in the markets. I scored a great deal from the hotel's website-- I would recommend booking there rather than through a third party website.

I chose a room facing the jungle, and after debating really treating myself with a bathtub on the balcony, I chose a bathtub inside, because Phuket is hot and humid! That was a great decision.

I made multiple visits to their spa on site, and it was honestly the nicest spa I found in Patong. I had a facial (which was pretty average), a cooling wrap after a sunburn (and word of caution, it was COLD), an express massage (A+), and a traditional Thai massage (A+). The staff in the spa were especially kind, and the setting was soooo relaxing.

Lastly, my favorite thing about any hotel stay is the breakfasts! This is the most important review to look at on hotel rating websites, in my opinion, and Mai House really delivered. There was a huge variety, including Thai food, continental, fresh fruit, and even a charcuterie spread.

Overall, I loved my week at Mai House and came back to reality feeling refreshed and pampered. I would definitely stay there again if I return to Patong!
