Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is on May 12th this year which is only a few weeks away! I love picking out gifts for other people (to my own demise). Unfortunately for my dear mother, I am currently unemployed so she won’t be getting any of the gifts on this list (sorry mom!) Therefore making it safe for her to read (hi mom!) Some of the gifts on this list were past Mother’s Day and birthday presents that went down a treat, so they are tried and tested.

for the gardening mom

Here are a few great options for an active mom who loves that spring sunshine. Gift her with a cute sun hat that she can wear all summer long, or her first pair of allbirds! She’ll be not just a regular mom, but a cool mom. (If she loves her summer allbirds, you can gift her with the wool version for winter— double win!) And HOW CUTE is this plant mom gardening apron?! I mean, seriously. If you’re wanting to splurge on something for the mom in your life to wear, I also loveeee Vrai & Oro’s Mother’s Day necklace and gift guide. Hello sustainable sparkly things! (Refresh page if the pictures don’t show up below!)

for the chef mom

At the risk of sounding sexist, I love gifting my mom kitchen gadgets and cookbooks. She’s a great cook, (and tbh my dad is dying to have an Instant Pot so I’ll probably save that for Father’s Day). Instant Pots are life changing. I digress. I got my mom this spiralizer attachment for her KitchenAid a few years ago and she loves it! There are also hand held versions which don’t need a KitchenAid. Rivet and I are obsessed with Chrissy Teigen’s cookbooks (because all the recipes are amazing??) and we gave one to his mom for Christmas this year. I love being able to share recipes through owning the same cookbook (especially if you don’t live in the same town as your mom), and I feel like these are WAY underrated and need to be on more family shelves (here’s a link to her first one).

for the spaliday mom

Does your mom need to relax? Lol, just kidding. We all need to relax. I’ve been dying to try a weighted blanket— they’re supposed to do wonders for helping you sleep without added heat (just weight), and I think my mom might benefit from it. If that’s a little too much of a diagnosis to put on the mom in your life, give her this BEAUTIFUL chic diffuser* to introduce some essential oils into her life. She can use her diffuser, tie her hair back with a slip headband, put on a facemask, and curl up under her blanket. Best Mother’s Day ever.

*Use code “hikeinheels” for 20% off your entire purchase from vitruvi! Their essential oils are also to die for.

for the Mom who has everything

After spending a semester in Kenya & Tanzania, I gifted my mom with this orphan elephant sponsorship through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. When you “adopt an elephant” the adoptee (or giftee) receives monthly e-mail pictures and updates about their elephant. This is a fantastic organization which hires locals and works with the local community to rehabilitate and protect wild elephants (and sometimes extra friends!) My mom loves it and she has asked for this every year since!
